Squarespace takes 7% of digital content on Basic, 5% on Core, 1% on Plus and 0% on Advanced. Aglyn takes 5% on Starter, 3% on Pro, 2% on Business, 1% on Scale and 0% from Advanced. Neither is free at the bottom.

The follow-up is included

A form writes a contact record, a workflow tags it and starts a sequence, and the audience it joins carries its own consent basis. On Squarespace that chain is email marketing plus a CRM plus an automation tool.

Many sites, not many plans

Squarespace gives unlimited contributors on a single site. An Aglyn plan gives a seat band and many sites — 3 on Pro, 10 on Business, 25 on Advanced and 100 on Agency.

## Where Squarespace ends and Aglyn begins

Squarespace has restructured its plans: the current tiers are **Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced**, and the older Personal, Business and Commerce names are legacy. Its fees, from Squarespace's own help centre in September 2026: 2% on online-store sales on Basic and 0% above it, and 7%, 5%, 1% and 0% on digital content and memberships across Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced.

Aglyn has a fee ladder too, and pretending otherwise would be exactly the kind of thing this page exists to avoid. It is 2% on physical goods on Starter and 0% from Pro up; on digital goods and memberships it is 5% on Starter, 3% on Pro, 2% on Business, 1% on Scale and 0% from Advanced.

What Squarespace leaves to other software is the rest of the business. A form there stores a submission and emails you. A form here writes a contact record in the same console, and a workflow can tag it, notify a colleague, add it to an audience or start an email sequence — and the audience it joins carries a recorded consent basis, because the email tool and the consent records are the same system.

## What Squarespace does better

Written honestly, because a comparison page that claims a clean sweep is not worth reading.

- **Design craft out of the box.** Squarespace's templates are the best art-directed set in this category, and a Squarespace site looks good before you touch it.
- **Unlimited contributors.** Above Basic there is no seat count to think about at all. Aglyn bands seats and charges past the band.
- **Maturity and a real support organisation.** Aglyn is in public beta and does not publish an uptime SLA.
- **Scheduling and email at one price** on the plans that include them, with no third party to wire up.

## You can take it with you

Aglyn is licensed under **Apache 2.0**. The whole platform can be run on your own infrastructure using the Docker Compose setup in the repository and your own Firebase project, and a site's content can be exported from **Pro** up.

Squarespace will export your content as WordPress XML, which is genuinely useful and more than some competitors offer. What does not come with it is the platform: the commerce, the members area, the scheduling and the hosting behaviour stay behind. The difference is between exporting the output and being able to run the system.

## Frequently asked questions

It depends on volume and on what you sell, so model your own numbers rather than taking a comparison page's word for it. On digital goods and memberships Aglyn is lower at every comparable rung — 5, 3, 2, 1, 0 against 7, 5, 1, 0 — but Squarespace's entry plan is cheaper in list price.

There is no one-click importer. Squarespace exports your content as WordPress XML, and product or collection data as CSV, both of which can be brought into an Aglyn collection. The design is a rebuild on the canvas.
